5 Quick Stress Busters: Serenity

Stress Busters: 5 Tips on how to handle stress at home, work

Hi, thanks for stopping by. There has been another event, I shall elucidate later, so after my last blog post about motivating customers to buy, you can catch here, there has had to be a quick change to my blog publishing program. The next blog subject had to be postponed because of a production difficulty with the intended support material. The topic is stress busters, which is quite relevant to what has been happening over the last few weeks.

What has been happening?

Oh you remember I said I had some important bike maintenance to do? Well, I did it on the Monday evening. Whilst I was preparing the bike for the MOT and service and had also given it a good clean, I was bitten/stung by some insect or other. On the Wednesday the back of my hand looked like it was wearing a boxing glove and my right arm was swelling up. Another trip to the doctors, antibiotics again.

Did not stop the cough and hoarse voice, that apparantly was caused by a viral infection. A follow up trip to the doctors for the cough and hoarse voice meant that i was referred to the hospital for investigation. A look at my larynx, via my nose with a camera/light found all was well, praise the Lord no unusual growth etc. The earlier chest X-ray has shown a shadow on my left lung, antibiotics again.

Here are 5 tips to help you on your way

Stress is fast becoming the biggest health problem in our modern society. There is so much pressure from , financial, work, family and if you have your own business – so much to do but so little time to do it all! Let’s have a look at five quick ways to ease the pressure and relieve stress:

1. Need a time out?

Make time to switch off from the daily trials and tribulations and get some time to relax every day. Just shut the world out and do something you enjoy. Reading, playing a musical instrument, taking a relaxing bath with music and candles (and maybe a glass of wine) are all great ways to unwind and will be extremely beneficial to your mental health.

Day Job, make sure you have a lunchbreak.

2. Feels like one thing on top of another?

If you’re dealing with a stressful situation and you have a lot on your plate, finding solutions can be very hard. You feel like you are caught up in the midst of a sandstorm and cannot see which way  to get out. One good idea is to get some distance between you and your problems so you can gather your thoughts. If possible, take a day or even a weekend away from your usual surroundings, somewhere away from it all, peaceful, and relax. Take a journal along so you can jot down any ideas that you may have. Distance away from problems can bring clarity, a chance to view from afar, and by relaxing, you’ll be calmer and solutions will come far easier than when you’re in the heat of battle.

Can’t get away, try working on some other problem/task for a while, coming back to it could bring a different insight.

3. Are you facing a change in your life?

One reason for becoming stressed is because of a change, or even a number of changes in their lives. Change is a constant in life, refusing to accept change can be a big cause of stress levels soaring. When you are faced with change, try and find the positives associated with the change, see it as an opportunity. Every change presents an opportunity for you to grow and there are always positives to find in even the most trying of circumstances. It is not the change brings stress, it’s all about how you react to change and if you react in a negative way, you will do yourself no end of harm.

4. Endless list of chores.

There always seems to be a never ending list of jobs that need doing: repairs around the home, paperwork, car maintenance, throwing out junk, cleaning the patio, weeding the garden – on and on and on! The more we try and put them off, the more the list grows and the more they contribute to your stress levels. So make a list of all of these chores and then schedule something I call a “Blitz Day”. On this day, you rise early and spend the whole day sorting out each of these jobs. Take only a few breaks and only have a quick bite at lunchtime and just blitz through these irritating but necessary tasks. This will get rid of them, you’ll lower the stress they cause but more importantly, you’ll realize just how effective and industrious you can be when you apply the full force of your will to accomplish things.

In business, create a prioritsed list of tasks, concentrate on the most important tasks first.

5. Treat yourself to a pamper day.

This is a day where you escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday living and get to enjoy some stress-free time. You’ll also feel great and give your well being a huge boost. On this day, do your favourite: have a light workout, a swim, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, or a steam room for example. A massage would be nice and if you have access to one, a Turkish baths will give you an invigorating experience. Try to do this at regular intervals, it is an excellent stress-buster.

These 5 Tips here will help you to get started to significantly reduce your stress levels, but they’ll only work for you if you put them into action.

All the best for now….until next time.

Belated report on QSC week 4

Hi, got knocked a bit sideways after mum’s funeral. Trying to catch up with things as I have been absent for a while.

Personal challenge?

I was admitted to hospital coughing blood. Spent a total of five days in the hospital before they would let me out. Have been out of the hospital about two weeks now, feeling better but still low on energy though. Treatment is continuing as an out patient.

Back to work at the day job as well. Trying to get back into everything, gradually.

Week 4 of the QSC

What was week 4 all about? It seems so long ago.

Quick recap on week 3, simply ‘bridge pages’ see the last blog post for full details. List building, a key process that you will require.

So, now we have the process using the bridging page to create a list of emails. What do we do with them?

Automated Income Machine

We are going to need an automated  system to make, and keep, contact with the list – our subscribers. Or what we  should refer to as our audience, followers or tribe.

We need to nurture them so that they will come to Know Like and Trust us.

There are two possible ways to do this:

  • Broadcast messages
  • Automated follow ups

Automated is the answer, works even when you are sleeping. You have an autoresponder? NO!, well click here for convert kit.

With  an autoresponder  you can set up messages to be sent when the new subscriber signs up (whatever time of day or night that may be) and send follow up messages at predetermined times and days.

What to write about?

Remember, the purpose of these email messages is to get your audience to Know, Like and Trust (KLT) you. So, don’t bombard them with all the latest affiliate offers, but give practical and useful content. Tell them about you, give them some funny stories. And, some occasional promotion offers.

Generally  mix it up.

And this week’s challenge

The challenge for the third week is to set up an email sequence in our autoresponder. The sequence is to contain a minimum of 7 emails following the guidelines given.

Importantly, check that when subscribing that the first email is received by the new subscriber.

Final week activity asap.

Have to go now, until next time……

Continuing: How to start your business

Reporting on week 3 of QSC

Hi there, Quick Start Challenge week three is soon upon us. We have got well into it this week, sorting out the brickwork, if you like, that is the main part of an internet business. The opt-in / thank you page combo, details further on.

Personal challenge this week?

This weeks personal challenge was the funeral. I had arranged for two days

Mum in good health

of, the Monday & Tuesday, but still needed to be there before for the last minute arrangements and to meet the other members of the family. Also, I had to deliver the eulogy, which I needed to write.

The weather the weekend was awful, lots of rain, no fun driving. On the day the weather was absolutely beutiful, bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky. Even the sun had come out to celebrate her life.

It was a special day for the family and friends…..

Week 3 of the QSC

This week we are looking at how to build a list, The List Building Engine. As mentioned the first week, traffic is the last step, we need the foundation and a stable platform first. This is what we are building:

  • Lay Foundation
  • Income Streams
  • List Building Engine
  • Automated Income Machine
  • Online Traffic Tap

Why do we need an email list?

This is your audience, the people that are interested in what you are doing. These are your potential customers. The people that listen to you, that you can talk to when you want to, not limited or controlled by some other traffic source.

In the IM market place there is a saying ‘the money is in the list’, this is the reason why. You will have your traffic that you are in full control of.

The mechanism to create this list has changed, see below.

What is the List Building Engine?

The original technique was to have an opt-in page with a thank you page. A sort of give them a gift with the left hand, offer product with the right.

The List Building Engine takes this further and is made up of three parts:

Opt in Page

Has something that you are giving away, a lead magnet. The action is completed when the email address has been accepted. Which leads to

Bridging Page

A two step process that delivers the lead magnet (or confirms how it is to be delivered). PLUS a link to the offer (on the money page), the product you are selling as an affiliate or your own product. Ideally both of these products are related.

Money Page

The sales page, affiliate or own product.

And this weeks challenge?

Make your own List Building Engine. Simple really, sounds straight forward but is a challenge.

Have to go now, until next time…..

How to get started with an Internet Business: The basics

Following on from last week, QSC

Hi, now in The Quick Start Challenge week two and how hectic everything has been outside of the course. The trick is to get started, and continue with your vision. This week had a different aspect to it, in some ways something you would not necessarily consider at this stage of your business. But, is worth reviewing at regular intervals, see further on.

What has been the challenge this week?

This weeks personal challenge has been getting he details of the service sorted out. Such things as the actual order of service, content and images approved by family members. Whilst completing the day job duties, quick discrete phone calls as necessary.

One problem was the music, identified the piece but it was not a ‘public’ recording – alternative had to be found.

Week 2 of the QSC

Week two turned out to be something different, but never the less fundamental for you in setting up your business. An open question ‘Why are you doing this’ and ‘What do you want out of it’. You need to be able to answer these questions:

  • Why you have started building an online business
  • What you want out of your business
  • What is your dream life
  • What is your monthly income goal to make it happen

Giving serious thought to the answers to these questions will give you the insight and wherewithal to overcome the hurdles in front of you.

Lets have a look at these questions.

What is the dream life?

How would you like to live? Where would you live? What sort of house do you want?

The answer will be determined to a certain extent, by your circumstances. Possibly for a younger person they may be able to move anywhere in the world. They have no current ties and have a lot of freedom of choice.

Whereas for an older person would perhaps have family ties, and would want to stay near to children and grandchildren. Their current house may even be adequate for their needs, and looking perhaps to have a better or more modern car.

Why I have started an online business?

Are you looking for a part time job? Giving up your current job?

That is do you want to supplement your income, or have a business that covers all your costs.

Or want to work from home, having spent a lot of time away from home, and got fed up with all of the travelling etc. One of the commonest reasons for starting their own business is to be your own boss.

What I want out of this business?

This question is answered in part by the above. The ability to live my dream life. But, fundamentally I want to live my life. To have the freedom to travel when and where I want to (working for a company means having to follow rules about having time off etc).

What is the number (monthly income)?

If you just plucked a figure out of the air then you might say 10,000 per month, or 100,000 per year. This figure would have no real meaning to you as there is no basis for it.

Once the above activities have been carried out properly then  the number can be properly calculated. The number then has more significance and a personal meaning.

Having done the research for the above you would now have a good idea of how much you would need to fund this life. Your number is the amount you need to make to live your life.

If you are looking for physical things, then put up some pictures/photos of what you desire near your computer

The Internet Marketing Evolution

Dean then gave us an insight into how Internet Marketing has evolved over the last decade. The reason why affiliate income has decreased and the subsequent drop in income.

Prices have dropped to a tenth of a decade ago.

A tripling in advertising costs.

More about this in a future blog….

This weeks challenge?

This weeks challenge is the Quick Start Challenge Week 2 Challenge, what is your number?

Just received a kick in the pants, signed up for this year.

Need some motivation to get you working?

Hi, it has been a while now since I posted on this blog. I know I should not have gone quiet for so long, but had a few personal problems to sort out as well as family issues. I just needed a kick in the pants, read on to find out more.

I quit my freelance working as I was getting rather fed up with all the driving and having to stay away from home. Then my mother’s health deteriated further, requiring her to go into a nursing home, and the resulting costs.

She passed away peacefully the end of August, together with my sister we have been sorting out her affairs and making arrangements for the funeral next week.

Ii is about 125 miles to where mum and my sisters live, so it can make things difficult doing the arrangements and clearing her old place.

What form was the kick in the pants?

I signed up for the Quick Start Challenge 2018. This is what I needed to get me going again.

The first webinar was middle of last week, right in the thick of it. It is going to be difficult for me for the first two weeks, but it will give me the inspiration and motivation to get things moving.

This first week set up the basis of what we are going to be doing

Week 1: Foundation

We laid the foundation for essentially, a long term successful business. How to establish yourself online quickly. This is valid whether you are a complete newbie or been trying for several months/years.

The first thing is to create a WordPress blog, and their is a full set of video training on WordPress. Full details from installation through correct setup and even how to write a blog post.

Week 2:

Is going to be all about list building

Week 3:

How to set up automated income generation

Week 4:

One word for this TRAFFIC, several strategies covered.

Have to go now, until next time…..

3 Effective & Realistic Tactics against Buyer Objections

3 Tips that ban customer buying objections

Just a quick post this time, straight into it.

There are a lot of excuses floating around about why people don’t buy. Maybe you’ve heard some of them: it’s too expensive, it’s not at the top of my “must have” list right now, or even when a deals too good to be true… it’s too good to be true. Customer objections are more easily overcome than you might imagine. Let’s take a look at 3 simple ways to wipe out those objections.

1. It costs too much.

Don’t be fooled! Most of your customers can get the money to buy the product… it’s not a matter of having enough. Let’s face it… what they’re really saying is that they can get a better deal somewhere else, or a deal that gives them a better value for their buck.

Now, don’t give in to the temptation to drop your prices to “rock bottom” just because you hear them say it’s too expensive. There are ways to wipe out these objections without wiping out your profits!

Make it look like a better deal. I mean, take a really good look at your product. How can you increase the perceived value? Maybe you can add a manual, a CD, or a downloadable book full of information about the product. Let them think they are getting more for their buck, and the deal seems a lot sweeter to them.

Think about this… we all expect to pay more when we visit a specialist. Sure, Wal-Mart is great if we’re looking for a generic product, but when we want something from someone who knows what they’re talking about we head for a market “specialist”… and expect to pay a little more as part of the deal.

How can you become a specialist who demands respect, and can get away with slightly higher prices?
•Find niches within your market to address. Hey, if you look closely you’ll discover groups within your market that stand out… business men and women, young mothers, retirees, etc.

•Dig in, do a little research and figure out exactly how your product relates to the special needs of these niche groups.

•Speak to them as someone in the know. Revise your sales materials to address the specific needs of each group. Let them know you understand what they want and need, and watch your profits skyrocket.

Work on becoming an authority within your chosen niche.

2. I Have More Important Things To Get Right Now.

Yeah, buying now doesn’t seem too important until… the deal’s too sweet to pass up, and you have to get it today to get the deal.

What I’m talking about is banning the option of procrastination. Really what your customer is saying is … I have no reason to buy today. Make the deal irresistible, and put a deadline on it. It’ll spur them into making the purchase a priority, NOW.

Count down timers, on the page or in the email are effective here.

3. I’m Skeptical… It’s Too Good To Be True.

Most customers have been burnt by deals that seem too good to be true… they ended up costing more than they were worth. The only way you’ll ever overcome the skepticism is to build a relationship of trust.

Unconditional money back guarantees eliminate the risk of loss, and show the customer that you are truly concerned with their satisfaction.

Let testimonials speak for you. Evidence that you’ve delivered and gained customer satisfaction in the past goes a long way toward banning customer fears.

Be available. Customers feel like everything is okay if they can pick up the phone or send an email and get quick answers to their questions.

It really doesn’t take a lot of rocket science to counter the objections and make good customers. These 3 tips will get you off to a good start.

Into the New Year: Off to a good start?

Well the New Year has started,

but not so good so far.

Hi, and welcome back for the New Year. We have not had a very good start to this year so far. My wife lost her nearest sister just as the work on the kitchen started, the funeral was set for soon after and did not allow us time to make arrangements to get the necessary visa to travel. We were not able to go.

As the building work was completed and I had also finished the decorating I decided time was for a visit to my mum. On the day of travel my sister informed me that my mum had had a fall, her condition was not clear but a GP was supposed to be seeing her. Had to travel quickly. Fortunately she was just bruised, left arm and buttocks, but it had been a heavy fall.

Progress, strategy and utility

It is no good mopping about, have to get the covers off and back into it.

Utility - clear the wraps
Improved kitchen under warps

Remember the Quick Start Challenge (QSC)?

Have to get the sleeves rolled up and back into it.

Remember what it was all about?

That is correct, getting your business up and running. So it is back to basics, get grafting.

Revisit your strategy.

Here are five strategies that have proven themselves effective over and over again.

Strategy #1 – Search Engine Optimisation
One of the best internet marketing strategies to help you market your product or services is search engine optimisation. This marketing strategy focuses on optimising your site to be best found by popular search engines such as Yahoo and Google. Before you can make this strategy effective, it is important that you understand how search engine optimisation works. If you are unfamiliar with this concept, it may be best to hire someone to help you with this type of marketing.

Strategy #2 – Newsletters
Another internet marketing strategy that has proven to be successful is e-newsletter marketing. This type of marketing works by allowing site visitors to sign up for your emails. Then, periodically you can then send out newsletters updating them on your business and making special offers to draw them back to your site. If you choose to use this strategy it is important that you only send these newsletters to those who sign up for them.

Strategy #3 – Pay Per Click Ads
A very popular form of internet marketing is using pay per click ads, which are both easy to use and cost-effective as well. You can sign up with various search engines to have your ad show up as a result for specific keywords and you will only have to pay if people click on your site. Many have found this internet marketing strategy to be one of the most effective strategies available. Limitations on spend can be set initially, scaling up as and when the strategy proves successful.

Strategy #4 – Link Exchanging
A newer internet marketing strategy is link exchanging. This strategy basically works by having various websites exchange links. You can ask another site to provide a link to your site, and in return you will put a link to their site on yours. This works to be mutually beneficial for both businesses, and while it provides more web traffic, it can also help increase rank on search engines as well.

Strategy #5 – Web Banners
Web banners are another type of internet marketing strategy that has been proven to be very effective. This strategy requires purchasing space on other websites such as e-zines or other sites that may be relevant to your business. In the space you purchase your ad will appear and you will benefit from the traffic of that site being interested in what you have to offer.

Each of these internet marketing strategies have proven to be great strategies that brought results for other people. When choosing which of these strategies to use, be sure that you pick strategies that fit the nature of your business. There are many methods of internet marketing, but if you are new to the business, often using the tried and true methods can bring the best results.

The final choice may depend on what budget you have available.

End of year 2017: New Year and Location

The cabin is complete: Just need to move in

Hi, we finally have the log cabin office completed, started last time. Just need to move in now and get everything set up and in place for the New Year. There is a lot of space and potential for several desks – admin, main and creative. Just need the time to set it up.

Break down of the work

Weekend snow
Snowfall, surprise

This is how we started out, snowfall over the weekend delayed the delivery and installation by a day…..

Clean the concrete then install the base and floor.

The base
Base for log cabin

Then bring round the logs that make up the building.

Looks a bit like some sort of puzzle, or child’s construction set.

Start laying out stacks of pieces. No sign of a plan or blueprint so far. Perhaps they have made a

New Year puzzle?
Puzzle pieces…
It's coming together
Well underway now

few of these before.

Doors and windows have channels ready for the walls to fit. Makes for a simple installation.

The cabin was completed in a day, just left the electrics to be sorted out.

It proved difficult to get someone to do the electrical installation, they were quite busy. I made a temporary setup to give some power in the cabin and to allow for limited heating. After a couple of weeks the electrical installation was completed.

I decided to lay a bamboo floor, which took me three days to lay. Just as I was finishing off with a photograph the

Floor in place
Bamboo floor done

inspector came round.

Everything is now complete, ready to move in.

Lessons for the New Year

This activity demonstrates that for success you need a strategy, the goals that you need to accomplish for the future. These goals may well change over time, better understanding of these goals and measurement of accomplishment will feedback into these adjustments.

The plan, is how you will accomplish these goals and set the appropriate measure for success.

I will be spending time setting my strategy and plan for the New Year, I will be here to pass on my thoughts next time.
